Bacolor was the former capital of Pampanga during the British occupation from 1762 to 1763. It is also the village, with the oldest church. The San Guillermo Parish Church named after the founder of the village (Landlord Guillermo Manabatder). The village also has a remarkable oldest vocational school, founded in 1861 (The Don Honorio Ventura College of Arts and Trades known as DHAVCAT).
