Porac – a town of Pampanga
Porac is named after the word “purag” or “kurag” a kind of rattan plant that grows near the river.
The Santa Catalina de Alexandria Church was built in 1594; except for the revisions made in the
interior in 1980 all parts are still intact. The town is a main source for granite, chicken- and root
crops farming. It is well-known for its “Uraro” a cookies delicacy made out of roots crops powder,
eggs, milk and sugar. Porac is one of the fast improving towns after the devastation cause by the
  eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.
